Sacraments

The Sacrament of Baptism

Prior to the Baptism of an infant, parents must arrange for an interview with a priest. Parents and sponsors attend a Catechetical class session also. Arrangements for baptisms must be done two months in advance.

Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Adults wishing to learn about Catholicism, become a Catholic, or upgrade themselves should contact the Religious Education Office.

The Sacrament of Marriage

Those preparing for Marriage should contact one of the priests at least six months before the proposed wedding date. The date is not confirmed until the completion of the Marriage Preparation Program.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation

Communal celebrations of the Sacrament of Reconciliation are scheduled during Advent and Lent. Individual celebration is regularly scheduled on Saturdays from 4:00-5:00PM or by appointment.

Pastoral Care of the Sick and Elderly

If you know of parishioners who are ill or homebound and would appreciate receiving the Eucharist from our Home Ministry Program, please contact the Parish Office.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

If you have been attending the 5:30 PM Masses you have been witnessing our Catachumens and Elect being dismissed to learn from God's word. More recently our two Catachumens have been to the Cathedral to be blessed by the Bishop.

They are now part of the Elect themselves, having signed the Book of the Elect in a Rite of Sending on February 25. Our two candidates for Baptism, Kristi Dees and Joe Silva, have been participating in a special set of rites called the Scrutinies. A Scrutiny is a blessing and Exorcism that is intended to prepare each candidate for Baptism at the Easter Vigil.

There are three of them during Lent, each with its own special reading: the woman at the well, the healing of the blind man, and the raising of Lazarus from the dead. These readings remind us that Christ is living water, the light of the world, and our Savior from death itself.

We ask that you pray for all of our RCIA participants and hope you will come share their joy at the Easter Vigil.

For more information please contact: Dennis Sexton, RCIA, at 650-279-1025 or dwsexton@gmail.com
