Our RCIA (unbaptized) catechumens and (baptized but uncatechized) candidates are currently participating in the period of the catechumenate. During this period, the catechumens and candidates participate in what is known as a dismissal rite. They attend Mass together with the Assembly while we hear God's Word proclaimed. After the homily, the catechumens and candidates are "dismissed" with their catechist to reflect more deeply on the Scriptures. The purpose of dismissal is to help the catechumens and candidates grow in love and knowledge of God through the Scriptures. Since they are not yet able to join the Assembly at the table of the Eucharist, they are dismissed to be fed more fully at the table of the Word. After the dismissal the Assembly continues to pray for the catechumens and candidates as we celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
Please continue to pray for our catechumen, Wendy Tobagus, and our (baptized) candidates, Ismael Bettencourt, Danette Garcia, and Lisa Garcia as they continue the RCIA journey.
